Photographer: Karen Davis

Hi all!  I decided to add a section on the blog for anyone who has a home-based/freelance business that they'd like to get out there.  There are people here who are seeking certain goods/services (i.e. Mary Kay, PartyLite etc.)  and there are people here that can provide those services.  I personally needed a photographer and found one through word of mouth.   If you would like me to post your information up about your business, please email me at:  opn_blog@yahoo.com

I would like to share info on Karen Davis, she's a military spouse who happens to take incredible photos!
Here are a couple from my maternity photoshoot:

If you would like to book a session contact her through her website:

Need Volunteer!

Just wanted to put out there that the lady who was in charge of organizing the Swap parties, is no longer able to do it.  So if anyone is interested please let us know!  I think usually they held them in the rec rooms of the Osan towers so that it was convenient for most to meet!

With the fall and winter weather coming, it would be nice to be able to trade out any warm clothing you don't wear or that children have grown out of!

This would also be good for trading toys or anything else!

Again, please consider volunteering-  I think its a great idea that shouldn't go away!

Nature Luminary Candle Votives

What you'll need:

-leaves and foliage
-glass votive holder or jar
-white tissue paper
-white craft glue
-water
-paintbrush
-tealight candles

How to make it:

-Collect small leaves and other foliage from outside. Be sure there’s still some life in the leaves – they shouldn’t be too dry or crumbly. (Note: We found several of our leaves on bushes as their leaves are smaller.) Once selected, lay leaves in a single layer and place a large book on top to flatten them. Leave for an hour or two.

-Spread a layer of white craft glue on the outside of the votive holder. Stick the leaves to the glue and press into place. Let dry.

-Mix equal parts of water and white craft glue to create a decoupage paste.

-Tear tissue paper into squares about one to two inches in size.

-Use a paintbrush to glue the tissue paper over the leaves using the decoupage mixture. Overlap the tissue paper and make sure all of the glass is covered. Carry over the lip of the votive holder as well and be sure that the tissue paper is decoupaged against the inside of the glass.

-Allow the jars to dry overnight.

-Place a tea light candle inside each votive holder!
